DPS Testing Overview
If you are interested in measuring your DPS output this is probably the best way to test for raids. The reason why only one DPS is because this drives you to spend more time outside of execute (better measurement of sustain and DPS parse). In a group raid you will most likely have multiple buffs up that will add a few thousand DPS to your base performance; which means this should be the low end of performance for your character. This test is designed around single target DPS so it eliminates any adds artificially contributing to the DPS total. If you note the DPS parse in the Adjudicator fight above you will see my single target was about 22K without the adds and 25K with the adds.
Group
Tank, Healer, DPS
Dungeon
Veteran Spindle Clutch
Boss
Bloodspawn
Tank
Only grabs and maintains aggro with taunt (sword and board taunt).
NO attacks, War Horn, Crushing enchantment, de-buffs, buffs,…etc. besides the one taunt for aggro.
Healer
Only provides Healing.
NO attacks, Spell Power Cure (SPC), Worm, War Horn, damage buffs, de-buffs, shards, mystic orbs…etc.,
DPS
Run the rotation you are planning to use in the trials.
May have to modify for resources to generate sustain (the fight is ~1 min).
Tank will begin fight by taunting boss and will ONLY keep taunt up (e.g, don’t be wailing on the boss or applying buffs/de-buffs). If the tank fails to keep control or boss stationary you will most likely get a bad parse on your DPS. Healer will spam pure healing powers (i.e., healing springs, BOL,…etc.,). Again it is important not to buff/de-buff or damage the boss… The fight should take about a minute or less if your DPS is around 20K.
I use FTC to measure DPS but whatever add on you like is fine.
You are looking for a parse greater than 20K+ DPS which will get you in the door for most end game trial groups.

Excellent DPS
Most of the trial groups that I have been in that can do vet trials smoothly have the minimum requirement of 20K+ DPS (have not completed vMoL but it is probably higher). It is important to note that if you don’t understand the mechanics in a trial and communicate within the group no amount of DPS will get you through…Unlike group dungeons where very few require you to actually understand mechanics (with sufficient DPS) ALL the trials post Shadow of the HIST will require understanding the mechanics AND sufficient DPS.
This provides a really good indicator of Single Target DPS for a boss that remains stationary and is taunt-able under ideal conditions without buffs. Bosses or mechanics that require movement and time off target will negatively impact your DPS. Most trial bosses are relatively stationary with a good tank but will have mechanics that require movement and negatively impact your DPS. Taking into account the buffs you get in a good trial group this will help off set the mechanics to some degree and allow you to maintain the DPS in a long fight. This is also the reason you want to get as high over the minimum as possible to allow some margin of error as all of the trials post Shadow of the Hist will be pretty unforgiving.
Thanks Nate, My DPS definitely need improvement. Basic DPS info is always very helpful. A basic DPS boot camp for Savage Hearts would be awesome. Sign me up. Thomas II
It would be nice if they would add a practice dummy to the game. Pretty much any form of meaningful DPS comes from a solid skill rotation and it is hard to practice or test in this game.
We had practice dummies in WoW with different levels, even boss dummies. It was extremely helpful.
