About me

I’ve lived my whole life in Wisconsin, US; although I have moved around.  Family ties keep me rooted in Stevens Point – which is also conveniently located dead center so I can easily travel in any direction.  I decided I liked computers as a youth and started plunking around with code commands somewhere about age 11.  I made two IRC text-based games when I was 15 (trivia & yahtzee) and that sealed my interest on becoming a programmer.  Knowing the ins and outs of PCs, networking, etc has helped fuel and develop my career.

I have many hobbies and try to be the best at each of them (or at least learn enough to be satisfied with my ability).  I’m a jack of many many trades and a master of a few of them.

As life progressed, I got more serious about my faith in God and I realized the world is lacking in people who share his Word as it was intended – with no alteration or intervention with man’s opinions.  I became a teacher and preacher five or so years ago and have seen much fruit from that work.  Around the same time I picked up hunting and hiking in Wisconsin’s northwoods and my most enjoyment in life comes when I get to hike to place few have been and just sit in meditation for a while, watching nature take its course around me while the sun warms me and the wind cools me.

I can be summed up as a man who wants to see Heaven someday and bring others with, but in the meantime will enjoy his Lexus F Sport on the beaten path, and his 4Runner off the beaten path.

Gaming

My first experience with a computer was a TI-99.  I enjoyed learning how to make a machine do my bidding.  I’ve also enjoyed RPGs since the DOS days with Rogue and FPSs being indoctrinated to Wolfenstein 3D.  I’ve played AD&D since 1992 and did not branch out from that tabletop game – that eccentric community was far enough.  My first and only MMOs prior to ESO were two BBS Door games called Tele-Arena and Trade Wars 2002; oh yeah, that was on sweet, sweet, dial-up – ah the fond memories of what was the catalyst for world domination.

Elder Scrolls is by far the best game I’ve played though.  I enjoy the simpler mechanics and vast choices of options to better those mechanics as well as the story lines.  I don’t spend a great deal of time “role-playing” any more but it’s fun once in a while to put myself in a characters shoes and act like I’d want them to.

I am a fan of unplugging once in a while too.  I love board games and cards with friends and family.  There is much to learn about ourselves and others when we play games in person.

Officiating With Savages

The dedicated (or fierce) game-play of guild members is what defines savage in the guild.  This is the first real guild I joined, not knowing what it was for.  I’m glad I starting chatting and getting to know other members.  There is a level of respect and playfulness that encourages us to be closer to family.  So why an officer?  Savage Hearts called; I answered.  There was a need for someone to help with the guild website: keeping content updated and pertinent to how ESO evolves.  Being that I’ve spent more time in HTML then I care to admit, it only seemed natural.  I’m not looking for recognition for helping… I just hope to help the guild become stronger in knowledge, ability and presence.
