- It is massive battleground of three different Factions who are at war in Tamriel.
- The factions are The Amdmeri Dominion, Ebonheart Pact and the daggerfall Covenant all of whom are trying to conquer the province of Cyrodiil.
- The war in Cyrodiil has different objectives which involved capturing, defending and controlling various strongholds and the resources to which they have available.
- Elder Scrolls can be taken to give your Alliance more power.
- Various repeatable quests around the zone in different towns.
- An achievement to become an Emperor which provides a new skill line
- Players are able to enter Cyrodiil upon reaching level 10 and can choose to join one of the various campaigns.
- You will start off in an uncontested area and will be boosted to the stats that a character at level 50 would usually have.
- This gives all players who join an equal chance but a higher levels character will still have the advantage because they have access to better gear and will generally have more skills at their disposal.
Campaigns
- A campaign is a massive group of players that are going to battle for control of Cyrodiil for a specific amount of time in the Alliance war
- You have the option of setting a campaign as your home and one as a guest
Note: There are many campaigns for you to join.
Keeps
There are bonuses that are awarded if you take and maintain keeps, resources and the smaller keep areas which are called outposts. There is a total of 18 keeps. Each Faction owns 6 keeps by default. Each alliance has a Home Keep. All keeps are linked together by a transit line. This allows an Alliance to fast travel between keeps that are linked by this transit line using the Transitus Shrine. If a keep is under attack the link will be broken. It is also broken if a keep loses all 3 of a keeps resources.
All of the walls and door of a keep are destructible with the Siege Weapons. It is important to know that when a keep is captured it will stay in the condition upon capturing. This makes it important to repair any damaged doors and walls quickly upon capturing the keep to prevent enemies from easily entering. This can be done by using the masonry and woodworking repair kits. There is 2 flags in the keep that you must Hold in order for your alliance to capture the keep.
Every wall, gate and, in certain keeps, the roof, in a keep is destructible. However, once a keep is taken it stays in the condition in which it was after an attack, meaning that any walls and gates that were destroyed or damaged will need to be rebuilt or repaired. Masonry and woodworking kits can be purchased from the keep quartermasters to help repair them more quickly. There are two flags in a keep which must both be held by the same Alliance to officially capture it.
Resources
There are three resource nodes for each keep.
Lumber Mill
- Make the doors of the keep stronger
- Automatically repairs the doors
Farm
- Increase the strength of keep guards
Mines
- Make the walls stronger
- Automatically repairs the walls
Conquering all three resources around a keep is a way to breaks the Transitus link preventing fast travel to the keep. This will allow an assault on the keep to have a higher success chance because enemies will have to travel on foot to defend.
Emperorship
You can achieve the title of the Emperor by becoming the highest player on the Alliance leaderboards and your Alliance has control of the 6 keeps that surround the Imperial City. When you become crowned as the Emperor it will unlock access to a new skill line. This skill line unlocks the power to make your siege weapons more powerful, allows destruction of walls quicker, doubles your health, stamina, magicka, and even reduces the cost of your Ultimate abilities. You can be dethroned as the emperor if your Alliance loses all the keeps necessary to be crowned as the Emperor. However you still get to keep your skill line but the abilities do become a lot less powerful.
Alliance Points
Alliance points are another form of currency in the game. They allow you to purchase siege weapons, armor and weapons. The best way to get Alliance Points is to participate in keep battles and working together to capture enemies keeps. However they are also earned by any activity that takes place in combat. You even receive them from healing your allies in battle.
as a newby in Alliance wars is it better to go a 7 day or better campaign
It really depends. Sometimes the campaign that is 7 days is better because it gives you an opportunity to change you campaign if the EP is losing the war constantly. Other times a longer campaign is a good option because it gives the EP more time to fight. It really is no better or worse to join a specific one. The important choice it to make sure your HOME is the one that you will play with others the most.
Thanks for the feedback it is much appreciated , I will run with the 7 day to start with and learn a bit more
